Why the vaccination schedule matters
Each vaccine is recommended at a particular age, when a child is most at risk and when the vaccine works best. Some vaccines need several doses to give full protection, so keeping to the schedule matters.
The doctor will check your child's vaccination card, explain which vaccines are due, and plan catch-up doses if any have been missed.
After the vaccination
Mild reactions are common and usually settle within a day or two. These can include:
- Soreness, redness or swelling where the injection was given
- Mild fever
- Fussiness or sleepiness for a short while
Before you visit
Please call ahead to confirm availability if your child needs a specific vaccine, so the clinic can make sure it is in stock on the day of your visit.
When to seek urgent help: Seek medical help immediately if your child has difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or lips, a seizure, or a very high fever after a vaccination.

Frequently asked questions
Which vaccines are available?
The clinic offers all types of childhood vaccination. Because stock can vary, please call ahead if your child is due for a particular vaccine.
Can my child be vaccinated with a mild cold?
Minor illnesses such as a mild cold often do not mean a vaccine has to be postponed, but the doctor will check your child first and decide what is safest.
What if we have missed a dose?
Missed doses can usually be caught up without restarting the whole course. Bring the vaccination card so the doctor can plan the catch-up schedule.
